Life is a Curious Quest

Barona

I went to Barona, the local indian casino, for the first time yesterday. The whole house but David decided that they wanted to win some money, so I decided it was high time to check it out. I feel like it was a good learning experience: I never realized how little I know about Blackjack.

I went into the casino thinking, "Blackjack...simple enough, I could do that". Needless to say, it's not that simple. I put in $100 at a $5 table and left with $45. I must admit, it was still somewhat fun even as it dawned on me that I had no clue what I was doing.

So this morning I've been learning basic strategy and it's coming along pretty well. After I feel comfortable with Blackjack I'm looking to try roulette and craps.

Overall we had a gain, but I lost $70 ($15 to slots, I'm done with that), Alex lost $80 (he won $120 from slots after losing $200 at Blackjack, hence my slot attempt), Andrew broke even, and Jason won $200 (from his roulette strategy).
